Raised on small farm units in high-welfare, non-intensive conditions, and using local abbatoirs, the meat retains all the old fashioned virtues of succulence, tenderness and flavour.
Our farm shop has been trading for over 13 years, and the owner Philip Tuckey's family history spans over 400 years involvement in farming and butchery. What better assurance!
For many years, Philip has strongly believed that good animal welfare leads to quality meats and has been retailing his own grass reared beef for over 16 years. This was an innovative action at the time, well
ahead of the recent food scares and the supermarkets jumping on the bandwagon.
Our involvement with the Traditional Breeds meat marketing scheme provides us with complete traceability of the meats we sell (right back to the original farmer), and furthermore it provides a source of flavoursome pork, lamb and beef.
Our pork comes from breeds such as Tamworth and Gloucester Old Spot. It is full of flavour and has great crackling, unlike the lean and less flavoursome commercial breeds.
Our staff are highly trained butchers with many years experience. We are more than happy to discuss any questions regarding the meats on offer, or any special requirements that you may have.
